Healthy Work Matters Group (HWMG) - History

The Healthy Work Matters Group (HWMG), formally known as the Sheffield Occupational Health Development Group, was established several years ago because it was recognised that the existing occupational health services within the city were fragmented and, for many small to medium enterprises, frequently non-existent.

The group represents a partnership between organisations with an interest in improving the effects of work activities on peoples health.

The Health & Safety Executive funds the work of the Healthy Work Matters Group. This funding is used to provide free network meetings and training events for employers, employees, safety representatives and occupational health advisors from small and medium sized enterprises. The activity of the Healthy Work Matters Group comes under the management of the Corporate Medical Unit at HSE and the services the Healthy Work Matters Group provide are helping to deliver the Health & Safety Commission (HSC) and HSE strategy for improving workplace health and safety.
