Occupational asthma - an overview
- It is estimated that there are between 1,500 to 3,000 new cases of
occupational asthma each year in the UK, rising to 7,000 cases a year
if asthma made worse by work is included.
- Occupational asthma is the most frequently reported occupational respiratory
disease in Great Britain.
- Occupational asthma has cost society up to £1.1 billion over
10 years.
- Occupational asthma is caused by workers breathing in hazardous substances
at work.
